Prince collaborations and giveaways

Rest In Peace, Prince. As the world mourns the passing of His Purpleness, it is definitely difficult to share our favorite tracks and performances, because Prince had some funky ideas about the Internet, and where the world tends towards streaming, he resisted the trend (except for Tidal, so go figure).

Still, some great cover versions, collaboration tracks, rare cuts, and songs he gave away to others are available  – here is a small collection I came up with, just trying to remember the best ones over the years.

Prince – A Case Of You*
From the 2007 album A Tribute to Joni Mitchell*, featuring Björk, Sarah McLachlan, k.d. lang, Elvis Costello, and many more.

Kate Bush – Why Should I Love You?*
A lovely collaboration with Kate Bush from her 1993 album Red Shoes*. Why it wasn’t titled ”Why Should I Love U?” is anyone’s guess. Kate recently wrote a message to Prince on her website.

Bangles – Manic Monday*
Prince wrote the Bangles’ biggest hit under the pseudonym ”Christopher” (his character in the movie ”Under the Cherry Moon”). In April 1986 it was blocked from the Billboard Hot 100 chart’s number one position by Prince’s own Kiss.

Madonna – Love Song*
Prince played guitar on some tracks on Madonna’s Like a Prayer* album, and they did this together in Paisley Park.

Sinead O’Connor – Nothing Compares 2 U
Oops, not available.

More if I find more.
